Travel Money

If you’ve ever travelled with me…… you will always hear me say “you only need your wallet and passport, everything else can be replaced”. I always say that whenever I watch my travel partner panicking whilst packing with the taxi waiting outside.

I never carry cash and never travellers cheques.

In my wallet I always have the following:

  1. A MasterCard credit card.
  2. A VISA credit card
  3. An American Express/Diners or another credit card.

Why no cash? Cash can be lost or stolen. Whereas credit cards can be replaced during travel without incurring any financial penalty or less.

Our favourite Mastercard is the Halifax Clarity Card, there are no fees to use anywhere in the world, no fees for cash withdrawals and no annual fee. We’ve saved a fortune on fees using this card.

Our favourite VISA card is the Barclaycard Platinum Card again there are no fees to use anywhere in the world, no fees for cash withdrawals and no annual fee. We’ve saved a fortune on fees using this card.

Finally I have the Amex Platinum Card, this provides unlimited access to lounges worldwide and the most comprehensive travel insurance cover.

All of the cards can be easily carried in my new favourite wallet. For a long time I’ve been looking for a light weight solution and I finally found it in the Crabby Wallet. The Crabby allows you to carry anywhere from 1 credit card to 10 cards with room for cash, a smartphone and keys.
